Guided Trekking in The Himalayas
Despite the rapid increase in popularity of international trekking around the world and particularly in Nepal, it is still possible to travel up-country away from roads and traffic and surround yourself with rural simplicity and values. In Nepal you can spend days winding your way through the wooded foothills, along steep-sided gorges and up into glacier-filled amphitheatres to stand face to face with the highest mountains in the world. With Hillways, you get to walk in comfort with just a light day sack whilst our ever-cheerful porters carry your heavy load. This enables you to maximise your enjoyment of the stunning scenery and sublime Himalayan ambience. Hillways treks are carefully designed to ensure altitude is gained slowly so the risk of altitude mountain sickness is minimised.

The treks are based on arrival and departure from Kathmandu International Airport. One complete day is spent in Kathmandu, both at the beginning and end of the trek. This allows time for briefing, orientation and sightseeing, and for those who can’t resist, souvenir shopping. Travel between Kathmandu and the start of the trek is by a short internal flight which quickly gets us away from the city and into the foothills. The treks then follow a well-established daily routine based upon an early start, moderate daily distances and steady, easy-paced ascents. This allows us plenty of time to take in the sights, talk to the people and take those essential photographs!

Each night is spent in a basic but comfortable tea house with a bed and hot food and water provided. Descending back to the start point takes less time than the walk-in as it’s downhill most of the way and acclimatisation is no longer an issue. Then it’s a short flight back to Kathmandu to celebrate and maybe take in an optional flight around Everest, visit the local temples, or do your own thing. You will be dropped off at the airport in good time to pay your departure tax and catch your homeward flight.
A full expedition brief is provided at the time of booking which is designed to answer all your questions. However, if you do have any queries on Himalayan trekking and what Hillways provides, please get in touch. We have excellent and long-established in-country contacts and are well-placed to accommodate any specific requirements or requests.
For 2010, Hillways is offering a classic Himalayan trek to Everest Base Camp, and the opportunity to climb Island Peak, one of a number of so-called trekking peaks in Nepal which require no great technical skills to ascend. Further details are available here:
